Windows 10 is set to land on PC's over the coming days and weeks, but we already know that Microsoft's new platform is not going to land on mobile devices for some time. A third quarter date for Windows 10 Mobile's launch has been oft mooted, but now a Microsoft official has said that we could have to wait until the fourth quarter, November to be exact.
Anthony Doherty, Windows and Surface Business Group Lead at Microsoft SA, told iAfrica.com that the new operating system could come during the "November timeframe."
Doherty also chatted about some other key points, including the recent decision Microsoft made to slash over 7000 jobs, he explained that the cuts "were a long time coming". He also talked about the company's new strategy to launch software on rival systems such as Android and iOS, saying that Redmond wants mobile users to "get access to the toolsets they prefer and love, across any ecosystem. That's been our strategy all along."
"Obviously, there's some duplication in engineering, sales and marketing, but it doesn't change our strategy around mobility. Windows 10 Mobile is coming and it's coming strong..."Our core platform is Windows 10. It's mobile in nature, not just the device, but the experience people will have. So there's a big emphasis on the.. mobile phone side of it. But there's more thunder on that coming later in the year."-Anthony Doherty, Windows and Surface Business Group Lead, Microsoft SA.
