FIFA to Press for Tougher Checks After Scandal

The FIFA executive will press for tough checks on new executive members and term limits on top officials, a statement said after a meeting.

The measures will be put to a special congress to be held on February 26 next year to elect a new president of football’s world body.

“The reform topics proposed include enhanced centralized integrity checks for executive committee members, the introduction of term limits, higher standards of governance at all levels of football structures including confederations and member associations as well as individual disclosure of compensation,” the statement said.
