Man United Plotting Double Bayern Munich Swoop

Manchester United will attempt to perform a double swoop on Bayern Munich over the coming weeks, according to reports.
With Robin van Persie on the brink of finalising a four-year deal with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, United are in need of a new striker and have made 25-year-old Thomas Muller their number one target.

The Bundesliga giants are reluctant to part with their World Cup winner, but the Daily Star claims Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward is confident of agreeing a £60m deal for the German ace.

Edinson Cavani, Harry Kane and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette have also been mentioned as replacements for the outgoing Van Persie and loan flop Radamel Falcao but it is Muller who is the centre of manager Louis van Gaal’s focus at present.

And, hoping to kill two birds with one stone, the United boss is also expected to up his interest in Bastian Schweinsteiger
United have had their interests in the midfield ace rebuffed so far, but recent comments from Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have given the Old Trafford outfit new hope.

Rummenigge recently revealed that Schweinsteiger is “flattered” by United’s interest in him and that he will discuss the player’s future when Bayern’s training for the new season commences.

United are currently priced at 11/2 to win the Premier League this season, odds that would surely shorten on the back of two new arrivals from Bayern Munich.

However, if they are to deliver on odds of 13/120 to get a winning start against Tottenham, then defensive reinforcements also need to be tied up.

United remain in the hunt for Sergio Ramos and Matteo Darmian but as yet Van Gaal has been frustrated in his efforts to bulk up his back four.
