The Russian government has decided to respond to a series of ‘selfie deaths’ with a campaign entitled ‘Safe Selfies’.
Members of the Russian public were warned against taking selfies on railway tracks, while climbing roofs or taking pictures with tigers and guns.

You may laugh but the Telegraph reported that in January, two young men were killed while posing with grenade in the Ural mountains after taking the pin out.

With ten people having been killed and 100 injured taking selfies in Russia so far this year - a government selfie has warned ‘a cool selfie could cost you your life’ and ‘a selfie with a weapon kills’.

The latest of these deaths happened as recently as last week with a woman falling off a Moscow bridge.

Interior ministry spokesman Yelena Alexeyeva said: ‘Along with the advantages of the modern world there are also new threats.

‘We want to remind citizens that the pursuit of ‘likes’ in social media can put them on the road to death.

‘Unfortunately we have noted recently that the number of accidents caused by lovers of self-photography is constantly increasing.’

So, if you are addicted to selfies - make sure you take these photos safely and as a start best not pose with live weapons or killer wild animals…
